7:00 P.M. Ballroom Dancing Dance with the USA Dance, Inc. regulars until 9:30 P.M. at The Dance Space at  6004 West Broad Street St. Wear lightweight shoes that glide. 2 to 5P.M. Labor Day Picnic Join us at Mar Makay's house located at 6985 Cornfield Lane in Mechanicsville for a backyard barbecue. Directions: take the 360E exit off 295, pass WalMart, then turn right at the BP gas station by Lee Davis. Take the next right into the subdivision at Walnut Grove and then turn left at Harvest and this street almost dead ends into Mar's driveway. We will meet at 2pm to socialize, then start the grill at 2:30 and plan on eating around 3. If it looks like rain, bring along some indoor games. Solo will provide the condiments, a few sodas and paper products. Bring your own alcoholic beverage, your own food to grill and a dish to share. 11:00P.M. Harvest Wine Festival Located at James River Cellars. This winery is nearby at 11008 Washington Highway, just North of Virginia Center Commons. Four wineries will offer tastings. There will be live music and food and craft vendors. This is a beautiful location with a big patio and lovely grounds. Bring a picnic lunch and we can buy a bottle of wine to share. The festivities last until 6:00 p.m. but we can decide when to leave. Tickets are $12 IN ADVANCE and $17 at the gate. The price includes a souvenir wine glass, tastings at all wineries and pes to eat. There may be tours depending on interest. Advance tickets must be purchased by noon Friday Sept 8. There is alot of mud and dirt out there, and it isn't much fun, if you have to walk around in it. 2:00P.M. Echoes of Goya Located at First Unitarian Church. 1000 Blanton Avenue. Join me for an afternoon of classical Spanish music played by William Feasley, from the period of the painter Franciso de Goya (1746-1828). It is sponsored by the Virginia Museum and you can call their box office (340-1405) for tickets. Member price $8.00, others, $10.00. Call me if you'd like to go to lunch before the concert. 7:00P.M. S.I.T. S.I.T. Join me for the next stop on the Southside Italian Tour, at Dolce Vita (no "La" in front of it). It's on a new plaza, near the corner of Old Hundred and Charter Colony Parkway. To get to it from 288, take the Old Hundred Road exit. Proceed on Old Hundred until you reach a traffic light. Turn left. The plaza is almost immediately on your right, and Dolce Vita is at the right end of it (far end as you enter the plaza). From the Powhite Parkway, stay on the parkway beyond the 75-cent toll booth, pass under 288, and then, as above, turn left at the traffic light. 6:00P.M. Dinner & a Play Join us for dinner at 6pm at Casa Grande (10120 Brook Road) located in the strip mall across from Virginia Center Commons, between Ukrops and Target, close to Hallmark. After dinner we will meet at the Glen Allen Cultural Center on Mountain Rd (west of Woodman) around 7:45pm to see I DO,I Do!, a musical comedy that begins on a couple's wedding day and traces their life together over a period of 50 years. One can order a la carte and select from authentic Tacos, Sopas and more which are priced $2 to $3. Combination dinners are available as well. Martha and I are both impressed with the quality and value. In Merchant Walk Shopping Center at Wistar Raod and Broad Street. Wistar Road is about 1/2 way between Glenside Drive and Parham Road.
