8:00 P.M. Discovery Meeting. Tonight's discussion topic comes from Flag Day. How do we honor our country in addition to displaying the flag? What do we value about it? What are its strengths and weaknesses? At the Roslyn Retreat Center on River Road one-quarter mile east of the intersection with Parham. Doors open at 7:30 P.M. $3 members; $4 others.

8:00 P.M. Contra Dancing at TADAMS at Ginter Park Recreation Center located at the corner of Walton and Hawthorne, one block southeast of Laburnum and Chamberlayne Avenues. Join the Traditional American Dance and Music Society to enjoy contra dancing. Dance Workshop for beginners at 7:00 P.M., followed by dancing at 8:00 P.M. You do not need to know how to contra dance. Admission is $5 for members and $7 for nonmembers.

12:30 P.M. Alumni/Member Picnic. Former members and current members will meet for a picnic at Shelter 2 (look for the multi-colored balloons) in Forest Hill Park on Forest Hill Avenue. Bring yourselves, children, spouses, and friends. There will be entertainment for children and adults. Bring a dish to share and your own beverage. Dinnerware and cups will be provided. There is no charge, but an opportunity to make a donation will be afforded. For information call 526.8223.

5:50 P.M. Nancy's Birthday Party. Join Nancy as she celebrates her 50th birthday at the Sino-American Cafe at 8701 Midlothian near the intersection with Powhite Parkway. There will be balloons, party favors, and entertainment. The buffet charge is $11.99 or you may order from the menu.

10:00 A.M. Shenadoah Day. Spend the day with friends at Shenadoah Crossing Resort, located about a one-hour drive from Richmond. Activities include swimming, volleyball, putt-putt, tennis, horseback riding (extra charge), and a game room. Dinner at 5:00 P.M. Cost $5. Those wanting to carpool should meet at the Park and Ride at Parham and U.S. 64 at 8:30 A.M. Directions: Route 64 west to Gordonsville-Palmyra exit; exit toward Gordonsville to Route 33; right on 33 to Route 749; right on 749; continue straight to the resort.
